Finding 1Gap
Not all the cash comes back
The platform shows a driver's cash trips adding up to one amount; less is handed in. Each gap is small, but across weeks and drivers it adds up. Without a weekly match, the open balance just sits there.
Cash trips · Driver settlement · Uber & Bolt
To settle cash trips correctly, compare per driver and per week the cash Uber and Bolt say was collected with the cash the driver actually hands in. To find trips that never went through the app, match vehicle data – dashcam or telematics – against the driver's online status.
01 · Findings
With 50, 80 or 150 cars, cash piles up across dozens of drivers. A rough count at month end shows gaps too late, and by then nobody can tie them to a trip.

Finding 2Gap
The car moves, the driver is offline on Uber and Bolt. These trips appear in no platform report: the revenue is gone, but you still pay for the kilometres and wear. You only see them by putting vehicle data next to online status.
Finding 3Pattern
Long shifts, little revenue, an unusually high share of cash: a driver's real hourly earnings compared with the rest of the fleet tell you where to look – even when the cash handover seems fine.
02 · Ledger
Three numbers per driver: cash collected according to the platform, cash handed in, and the difference. Anything that isn't zero gets cleared that week, not at quarter end.
| Driver | Cash trips | Collected | Handed in | Difference | Status |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Driver 03 | 14 | 412.50 | 412.50 | 0.00 | settled |
| Driver 11 | 22 | 638.00 | 590.00 | −48.00 | Gap |
| Driver 17 | 9 | 247.80 | 247.80 | 0.00 | settled |
| Driver 24 | 17 | 501.20 | 500.00 | −1.20 | small amount |
| Driver 31 | 11 | 326.40 | 326.40 | 0.00 | settled |
| Total | 73 | 2,125.90 | 2,076.70 | −49.20 | open |
Example calculation
60 drivers × 10 missing per week × 52 weeks = 31,200 a year
A fictional assumption to show the scale. Your real figures appear only once your own platform data is matched.
A week is short enough that drivers and dispatch still remember individual trips, and long enough for Uber and Bolt to have settled them in full. Small gaps get cleared in a quick conversation before they grow into a large open balance.
03 · Obligations
Cash isn't only about trusting your drivers; it's also bookkeeping. The German Fiscal Code (Abgabenordnung, AO) sets three rules worth knowing.
§ 146 AO
Records must be made individually, completely, correctly, on time and in order. The law says explicitly: cash receipts and payments must be recorded daily (“täglich festzuhalten”).
§ 146(1) AO · Statute (German)
§ 146a AO
Anyone who records transactions with an electronic recording system must log each one individually and completely (para. 1), issue a receipt to the other party (para. 2, Belegausgabepflicht) and notify the tax office of the system (para. 4).
§ 146a(1), (2), (4) AO · Statute (German)
§ 147 AO
Books, records and annual accounts: ten years. Accounting vouchers: eight years. Other tax-relevant documents: six years. The period starts at the end of the calendar year.
§ 147(1), (3), (4) AO · Statute (German)
Not legal or tax advice. Ask your tax adviser which recording and receipt rules apply to your business. If you suspect a driver of keeping cash or plan steps under employment law, talk to a lawyer – also before analysing telematics or dashcam data, because data protection rules apply.
04 · Tool
The software connects your Uber Fleet and Bolt Fleet accounts and builds each driver's settlement from them every week. All you enter is what was handed in.
Cash trips and cash totals come from platform data, not paper slips. At the end of each week, every driver's amount due is clear.
Every gap is carried as an open balance on the driver and rolled into the next week until it's cleared. You see at a glance who owes what.
Revenue after platform commission divided by online time shows which drivers sit far below the fleet average and deserve a closer look.
Recurring gaps, an unusually high cash share, or shifts with little revenue get flagged. What you do about them is your call.
What's really left after Uber and Bolt commissions, per car and per driver – the basis for spotting losses at all.
05 · Setup
Set up your fleet once: vehicles, drivers and your base.
Link the platform accounts. From then on, trip and cash data flow in automatically.
Cash per driver, open balances, revenue per car and cost per kilometre on one screen.
06 · Evidence
700+
Mietwagen and taxi operators already run drivers, cars and platform data with this software – instead of spreadsheets and WhatsApp groups.
Case description, anonymised
A fleet operator put the trip data from his Samsara dashcams next to his drivers' Uber online status. The cars were on the road at times when the drivers were offline. That is how cash fraud came to light that no platform report would have shown.

07 · Questions
For each driver and week, take the cash amount Uber and Bolt report for that driver's cash trips and compare it with the cash the driver actually hands in. Any difference is carried as an open balance on the driver until it is cleared. Make sure every handover is documented and signed off.
Two signs are typical: recurring gaps between platform cash totals and the cash handed in, and trips that never went through the app – visible when vehicle data such as a dashcam or telematics shows movement while the driver is offline on Uber and Bolt. A flag is not proof. If you have a concrete suspicion, talk to a lawyer before acting.
Yes. Under § 146(1) sentence 2 of the German Fiscal Code (Abgabenordnung, AO), cash receipts and cash payments must be recorded daily. Ask your tax adviser how this applies to your business.
Under § 147(3) AO, books, records and annual accounts must be kept for ten years, accounting vouchers for eight years and other tax-relevant documents for six years. The period starts at the end of the calendar year (§ 147(4) AO).
No. Kassenabgleich is a control and settlement tool: it matches platform data against the cash handed in and shows open balances. Whether you need an electronic recording system under § 146a AO is a question for your tax adviser.
From $5.99 per driver per month. Setup takes about 48 hours: upload your cars and drivers, then connect Uber Fleet and Bolt Fleet. You can try it free for two days, no credit card needed.
